Domain Name Forwarding – Get Your Domain Name To Go To Another Site

If you wish to do affiliate marketing through using article directories you will find that most of the article directories do not allow your links in the resource box to be affiliate links. However, they do allow the link to go to a domain name that has URL forwarding on it. This means that you click on the domain name and it will redirect you to another URL.

There are three ways to do this.

URL forwarding at the domain registrar.
If you have your domains at a domain name registrar, for example I personally use this one all I have to do is log into my account, choose a new domain name, choose the checkout option and NOT the express checkout option, and on the second page fill in the following box:

URL Forwarding Settings

URL Forwarding Settings

Where is says URL I would put my long affiliate link – and that is it!

If I already have a domain name registered then I can easily go into the control panel and set URL forwarding.

If however, you do not have access to this, you can go it through code on your site. There are two ways to do this.

The easiest way is to create a file called index.html and put the following code into it

index.html page

index.php page
The next way to do it would be through php code. You would place the following code into a file and name it index.php
// Permanent redirection
header("HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently");
header("Location: http://DOMAIN_YOU_WANT_IT_TO_GO/");
exit();
?>
If you use the php code make sure that you do not have any blank rows before the very first line. While you can leave out the Moved Permanently line his would result in a “302 Moved Temporarily” redirect instead of a 301 Moved Permanently one. A permanent redirect is more search engine friendly and should be used where possible.

Both of the above examples will redirect your domain for you.

The only modification that you would have to do to either script is to change the redirecting URL from http://www.SomeLongAffiliateLink.com to what you want it to be.
